Farming has always been our shared passion, so when we decided to ‘go all in’ and ‘make something happen’, we settled on growing a tomato that tastes like ‘summer’, yet available from April to November. Thus our farm vision was realized with the construction of our hydroponic greenhouse and farm store located just north of Hwy 401 in Kingston, Ontario, back in 2002.
We learned quickly that we needed to give our visitors more reasons to ‘stop’ and so we added more greenhouse space to grow top quality annuals and perennials for the home gardener.
Today, Sun Harvest has become the home of Kingston’s favourite tomatoes and the leading garden centre destination in the region. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience for our visitors by delivering on our promise of the freshest, tastiest greenhouse and farm fresh produce and sharing our love of plants with gardeners of all types.

Spring is coming and you have always wanted to try and grow a citrus at home, but have heard that they are finicky tropicals that are hard to be successful with.

Citrus can be extremely long lived tropicals that can transition from an indoor setting to your outdoor patio and back indoors again come fall. Successful citrus growers at home have learned that the recipe for success lies in applying a few basic growing principles : ample light , warmth and no surprises!

Pumped to be growing again!
Our tomato greenhouse is alive again with thousands of tomato plants. We are growing our customer favourite beefsteak tomatoes, tomatoes on the vine, AND the super sweet, super 'addictive Sweetelle grape tomatoes. .
English and mini cucumbers are starting to climb their trellises and we should be harvesting by mid March.
Our lettuce crop is floating happily in the pond and we are picking daily. Nothing better than #loveyourlettuce!
The freshest produce starts right here at the greenhouse and by the end of March, we will be in full harvest for the best tasting produce of the season!

Together our 2024 'Pansies for Pancreatic Cancer' campaign has raised $6000 towards pancreatic cancer research at Canadian Cancer Trials Group at Queens University - all through the sales of our purple pansy bowls! To date our Sun Harvest Community has raised over $39,000.
This has been our 7th year running this campaign and we are always humbled by your generosity. Sadly , pancreatic cancer has become the 3rd most prolific cancer here in Canada and despite it being a deadly disease, we are heartened to hear stories of people continuing to fight and we can only hope that the collective efforts of research everywhere can make a difference for people living with this disease.
